Traditions

Arguably the greatest spectacle in college football unfolds moments before kickoff at Doak Campbell Stadium when Osceola charges down the field aboard Renegade, a beautiful Appaloosa, and plants a flaming spear at midfield prior to each home game. This tradition is a tribute to the great Seminole Tribe of Florida. The tradition was born on Sept. … Read more

Seminoles survive nail-biter vs. Louisville after injuries plauge FSU

The Seminoles start 3-0 (1-0) for the first time since 2015.

The Florida State Seminoles kicked off ACC play on Friday night against the Louisville Cardinals on the road. Heading into the matchup, FSU was 2-0 for the first time since 2016, and winning close is a welcomed albeit nerve-wracking attribute this team is starting to acquire. Up against adversity, the Seminoles persevered and we were able to see grit in a team that will not be defeated despite everything thrown at them.

Linebacker Kalen Deloach and company started their first drive off with Deloach spying Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham and forcing an incompletion. Safety Renardo Green was able to stop the Cardinal’s drive and force the punt to start the Seminole offense

On offense, it only took one play to move the team into scoring position after a 41-yard pass to tight end Camren McDonald and another 3rd and long completion to wide receiver Johnny Wilson set up the Noles’ first score of the night with a touchdown pass to tight end Preston Daniel.

Louisville went on the attack soon after, with Cunningham completing passes to Dee Wiggins along with big runs by Jordan Jawhar. Louisville’s first score of the game came from a rushing touchdown by Malik.

Jordan Travis completed 11 of 15 passes for 207 yards and three Florida State running backs rushed for over 100 yards each in FSU’s 47-7 win over Duquesne to open the 2022 season.  The Seminoles mounted six consecutive scoring drives in just over three quarters of play and the Nole defense was stifling in giving FSU the win in Doak Campbell Stadium and it’s first 1-0 start since the 2016 season.

8 Treyshaun Ward – One of 3 RB’s to get 100 yards or more against Duquesne

Running back Treshaun Ward led a ferocious ground game for the Seminoles with a career-high 127 yards on 14 carries for a career-high 9.1 yards per carry average.  Trey Benson (105) and Lawrance Toafili (101) also gained over 100 yards marking the first time in school history that three running backs gained 100 rushing in the same game.  Florida State’s 406 yards rushing in the game are the most since totaling 478 in a 55-35 victory over USF on September 24, 2016.

Florida State scored the first 33 points of the game before surrendering a touchdown to the visiting Dukes.  The Seminoles scored on seven of their first eight drives, as the offense was stopped only once through the first three quarters.  For the game, the Seminoles scored on eight of their 11 possessions and punted only once.

Seminole Makes History as First Football Player to Wear FSU Jersey

Justin Motlow says that he’s just happy to be playing football, but the 5-foot-11, 182-pound freshman wide receiver’s humility makes his accomplishment that much sweeter. This season, Motlow, who is from Tampa, will suit up as a Florida State University Seminole. An interesting acquisition for the team, because he will be the first tribal member … Read more
